Things to do When you come to “Mcleodganj Homestay”

Time and again we have shared thoughts and information which is valuable to use when one come’s to the land of peace – Mcleodganj and Dharamshala . Today we would like to share 4 points of sightseeing that the tourists get indulged to visit when they come here.

First and foremost the “Dalai Lama Temple”. Dalai lama temple welcomes everyone to experience the tibetan culture and is located right at the end of the market which sets the tone for a pictures experience.
Bhagsu waterfall …. The Bhagsu waterfall has been the talking point and top recommended point for the young tourists as one has to trek for1km to reach the falls. The falls has always been busy and is a memorable experience .
Bhagsu temple – Himachal as a whole is called the “land of “temples” , we too are blessed when it comes to temple’s . The temple of Lord Shiva in Bhagsu presents a perfect “experience” after the refreshing waterfalls.
St. John’s church – As we have shared in the previous posts the “history” and the value that this church adds to our hills station. St. John’s church is no short of beauty and character. Even “bollywood” has found this church “epic” and have shot for bollywood’ recent – “Mary kom” in the St. john’s church in the wilderness.
Norbulingka Institute – The institute is located around 16Km from “Mcleodganj Homestay” The place is one of the best to visit when comes art . Norbulingka is very beautiful and is very famous for the highlighting “Thangka” paintings.
Naddi – Lastly “Naddi” which is a marvellous sunset point. Naddi “sunset” point is right where the road ends. On one hand one sees the “sunset” and on the “other” one can see a broad view of the snowcapped mountains

THE TREK TO TRIUND !!!!

Triund hill has been the attraction to look forward to thousand’s of adventurous travelers over the years. A trek which roughly situated at a height of 2800 meters from sea level provides the trekkers a “breathtaking view” of the dhauladhar mountain range and the valley.

s fairly easy to climb. it is the last one kilometer which takes a lot our of you . apparently the last 1k is called”22 curves” in which there are a continuous 22 turning points through which everyone has to grow through before reaching this mesmerising point.It takes upto 4-5 hours to trek up and a hour and a half to come down. The trek starts from “Dharamkot road” which is the same road on which our “Mcleodganj Homestay” is situated and we have been providing a wonderful starting junction to excited travelers and trekkers.

For trekking: For the trek we recommend to hire a “professional” guide who can help you climb up safely and also to bring you down safely. You require – Rain jackets, water bottle’s, trekking shoes and a “trekkers” stick. The weather up in triund is highly inconsistent and it can take up to 10 minutes to change from sunny to rainy. Hence, one shall be ready to deal with the same both mentally and physically. Do not expect fancy food as there are small tea shops on the way !!

St. John’s church in the wilderness – A essential part of “Mcleodganj”

In Continuity to promote Mcleodganj, Dharamshala, Distt- Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, India St. john’s church has a lot of history and is one of the most oldest points when one refers to Mcleodganj – The tourist Destination. Whether it be for

surviving the horryfying “kangra earthquake” of 1905 ( Kangra which is 20 km away from Mcleodganj, or being famous for “belgian glass” by “Lady Elgin” wife of “Lord elgin” the British Viceroy of India in 1861 who was buried here in the “St. John’s church” in 1863

. This beautiful “Church” has been one of the favourite points for tourists that come here. Even bollywood has not been away from this beautiful place as they have shot scenes for famous movie Mary Kom in 2014 in this church. We hope the presence of “eternal” of “St. John’s church in the wilderness” stays here in Mcleodganj in hundred’s of years to come.

Mcleodganj History In Brief !!!!

In continuity to promote Mcleodganj,Dharamshala, Distt-Kanga, H.P. we would like to take our readers in to a glimpse at the history of our lovely hill station.

HISTORY OF MCLEODGANJ – Found by the british, when Kangra the initial cantonment in “Yol” ( which is 25km away from Mcleodganj) got overcrowded. The britisher’s decided to shift there 2 cantonments in Dharamshala. Mcleodganj which was the second cantonment in Dharamshala . The first one being in “forsyth ganj”. Lord elgin the viceroy of british in 1863 when died here on a tour was buried and lies in the “St. John’s church in the wilderness” established here in 1863 which is a km away from the centre of Mcleodganj. With time Mcleodganj and Dharamshala have seen a lot of troubles in its history. One of them being the “horrifying” Kangra ( kangra which is 20km away from mcleodganj) earthquake in 1905 in which roughly 20,000 people lost there lives. Since then “Mcleodagnj” have moved on and after 50 years of this incidence since the arrival of the H.H Dalai Lama our small hill station has been blessed. Mcleodganj which has one of the oldest established shop’s in India “Nowrojee & Son’s” a caterer to the tea house created by Lord Elgin in the early 1860’s is still present right on the main square of Mcleodganj to let the people have a peep in the history. On the other hand, there is a huge number of people that come here for taking medical help from Dr. Yeshi Dhonden. We also have had many experiences in the past where people have come from different parts of the world at our “mcleodganj homestay” to visit “Dr. Yeshi Dhonden” for his medical help. They stay here with us so that they can get “fresh home cooked” food and a homely atmosphere while going through the treatment.

We are writing this blog for the promotion of our beautiful hill station “Mcleodganj”. The glorious mountains and the greenery all around. Mcleodganj Has become one of the prime destinations for people who come here for relaxation, meditation and most of them travel for leisure.

One of the talking points that have come nowadays to all our people is the 1st international twenty-twenty match that is scheduled to happen in less than 3 weeks time on 2nd. October between Ind Vs. Sa at our marvelous Dharamshala Cricket stadium” second highest stadium in the world”, A stadium which is one of its kind having a gorgeous view of the snow-capped dhauladhar mountains.
